Andre grew up with his father dressage rider and trainer Michael Thieme at Redefin Estate. At the age of 19, he received the Goldene Reitabzeichen for his first ten dressage victories. Subsequently, he focused on show jumping and again received the same prize in this category. In 2007, he was German vice-champion and participated several times in the Show Jumping Nations Cup. The same year, he won his first grand prize, the Deutsches Spring-Derby with Nacorde, then won it again in 2008 with the same horse and again in 2011. In March 2013, he was selected as a replacement within the German team but it was in September 2021 that he made it, winning the individual gold medal at the European Championships but also the medal of silver by teams.
