Mel is the younger sister of Sanne and daughter of international rider Leon Thijssen from Sevenum in the Netherlands. Mel Thijssen‘s journey into the world of equestrian sports is fueled by an innate passion for horses. Hailing from the Netherlands, she grew up in a family deeply entrenched in the equestrian world. She was part of the Young Riders Academy in 2024. She also produces horses and already perfromed at the top level of the sport like she demonstrated winning the 3*Grand Pirx of Villamoura.
