Antoine Ermann Turns His Focus to the Rolex Grand Prix Ville de La Baule

After playing a key role in France’s historic victory in the Barrière Nations Cup, Antoine Ermann is now fully focused on the next major challenge of the week: Sunday’s Rolex Grand Prix Ville de La Baule.

Partnering the talented Floyd des Pres, Ermann delivered an important clear round in the second round of the Nations Cup, helping France secure its first victory in La Baule in nine years.

With the celebrations now behind him, the French rider is already looking ahead to one of the most prestigious classes in international show jumping.

“Winning the Nations Cup in Jumping International de La Baule-Officiel de France is something very special,” said Ermann. “Doing it in front of the home crowd makes it even more memorable. But now the focus shifts to Sunday and the Rolex Grand Prix Ville de la Baule.”

Ermann is expected to return to the iconic Stade François André aboard Floyd des Pres, a horse he believes is ready to compete at the highest level.

“Floyd felt very good during the Nations Cup and came through both rounds in excellent shape,” he explained. “Of course, after a competition like that, recovery is important, but I’m confident he will be ready for Sunday.”

At 11 years old, Floyd des Pres continues to gain valuable experience at the highest level of the sport, something Ermann believes could make the difference in a class of this calibre.

“Last year, many of these major competitions were still new experiences for him. Everything we have learned together has helped us progress, and I know I will be going into Sunday with a horse capable of being competitive.”

For Ermann, a Rolex Grand Prix represents one of the greatest challenges in the sport.

“A Rolex Grand Prix is always special. The atmosphere, the crowd, the quality of the field and the course design make it one of the toughest tests in show jumping. You know you have to be at your very best.”

With many of the world’s leading riders and horses set to contest the Rolex Grand Prix Ville de La Baule, the Frenchman knows the competition will be fierce.

“The level here is exceptional. Many riders have brought their best horses because this is an important moment in the season, especially with the World Championships approaching. There are many combinations capable of winning, but our goal is simple: to deliver the best possible performance and see where it takes us.”

After helping France lift the Barrière Nations Cup, Antoine Ermann and Floyd des Pres will now aim to continue their impressive week in Sunday’s Rolex Grand Prix Ville de La Baule.
