Henrik von Eckermann: “Falsterbo has always held a special place in my career.”

Falsterbo Horse Show is one of the most iconic events in international show jumping and one of the seven Rolex Series events. As a Swedish rider, what does it mean to compete here?

“Coming home to compete in front of the Swedish crowd is always something very special. The spectators here are incredibly enthusiastic, and Falsterbo has been part of my career for as long as I can remember. It’s a show with so much history and tradition, which makes it unique. I always enjoy competing here, and of course, I hope to give the Swedish fans something to cheer about.”

The Rolex Grand Prix presented by Agria is one of the highlights of Falsterbo Horse Show. What makes the Rolex Series events so special compared to other competitions?

“The Rolex Series events have always been among my favourites because of their history and tradition. They are competitions where the focus is truly on the quality of the sport. For us as athletes, they offer the complete package: an incredible atmosphere, outstanding facilities for our horses and, of course, excellent prize money. These are the shows I genuinely enjoy coming to because they represent the very best of our sport.”

With the FEI World Championships in Aachen just a few weeks away, how important is Falsterbo in your preparation for the rest of the season?

“With the FEI World Championships just around the corner, Falsterbo is a key part of our preparations. It will be the final competition for the horse I believe has the best chance of going to Aachen. More importantly, I want to leave Falsterbo with the feeling that we are truly ready to compete for the highest honours at the World Championships.”

The atmosphere in Falsterbo is renowned around the world. What are you looking forward to most this week?

“The atmosphere in Falsterbo is always fantastic, especially during the Agria Falsterbo Nations Cup and the Rolex Grand Prix presented by Agria. The crowd is incredible. As Swedish riders, we really feel their support, but I also believe that riders from abroad appreciate the enthusiasm of the spectators. It’s something I always look forward to.”

What are your ambitions for this year’s Falsterbo Horse Show?

“My ambition is simple: to win as much as possible. At the same time, I hope to leave Falsterbo with a really good feeling and the confidence that we are on the right track heading into the FEI World Championships.”
