Petronella Andersson Shines on Home Soil: “A Really Special Victory”

It was a day to remember for Swedish rider Petronella Andersson, who claimed a brilliant win right in her backyard. Born and raised just five minutes from the showgrounds, Petronella delivered a flawless performance surrounded by family and friends.

“I grew up five minutes from here and lived here all my life. Today, my whole family, my cousin, my friends, my parents’ friends — everyone was here. That made it really special.”

Her partner in the ring? A talented mare, Olympke Van 'T Merelsnest, who just made her debut in a 5* Nations Cup and proved to have the mindset of a champion:

“She doesn’t have all the experience yet, but she has the best mentality and real ability. I’m very proud of her.”

Despite a small hesitation at the water jump in the first round, Petronella quickly adapted:

“I think she was a bit surprised by how long it was. I adjusted for the second round and she responded even better — that’s always a great feeling as a rider.”

And the week is far from over. On Sunday, Petronella will ride Odina van Klapscheut in the Rolex Grand Prix presented by Agria:

“She’s already jumped a few Rolex Grands Prix. I’m excited for it. Let’s keep it up!”
