Rodrigo Pessoa is one of the most iconic figures in the history of show jumping. Born into the sport as the son of legendary rider Nelson Pessoa, he developed from an early age within the world’s elite and went on to build one of the most complete and successful careers in the discipline.
His list of achievements includes individual Olympic gold at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, riding the exceptional Baloubet du Rouet, as well as team Olympic bronze medals with Brazil at the Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 Games. At championship level, he also claimed individual gold at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera (2002) and individual bronze at the World Championships in Aachen (2006), confirming his dominance across multiple championship formats.
Beyond championships, Rodrigo Pessoa has been a constant presence at the very highest level of Grand Prix sport, recording victories and podium finishes in many of the world’s most prestigious events. A long-standing pillar of the Brazilian national team, he has represented his country at numerous Olympic Games, World Championships, European competitions and World Cup Finals over several decades.
A Rolex Testimonee, he embodies excellence, longevity and commitment to the sport. Still competitive among the world’s best, he continues to deliver top performances on the biggest stages. In 2025, he finished 2nd in the Rolex Grand Prix of Dublin, one of the most historic and demanding events on the international calendar, further underlining his enduring presence at elite level.
