Simon Delestre

  • France France

The son of international rider Marcel Delestre, who went on to become France's youth coach for many years before taking charge of the Colombian and Moroccan teams, Simon Delestre has known nothing but top-level competition from his earliest years. He joined the French team during his pony years, and in 1999 won the French junior championship with Bella de Charmois. The following year, he won the European Young Riders title with Didam de la Ressée (Quidam de Revel).
In 2015, he was individual bronze medallist at the European Championships in Aachen on Ryan des Hayettes, retired since 2022, just like the generous Chesall. From March 2016 onwards, Simon Delestre becomes world number one.
In 2021, he took part in the Tokyo Olympic Games with Berlux, subsequently sold to the Wachmann family. The Lorraine-born rider now relies on the extraterrestrial Cayman Jolly Jumper and the sparkling Dexter Fontenis, in addition to other promising horses in his stable, including the I stallion Amelusina R51 and the young Olga van de Kruishoeve.
Unfortunate in London and Rio, first because of equipment problems and then because of injuries to his two horses at the time, Napoli du Ry and Ryan des Hayettes, the Tricolore hopes to break the curse in Paris in 2024.
