Individual jumping champion at the London 2012 Olympic Games aboard Nino des Buissonnets, Steve Guerdat first rose to the World No. 1 position in November 2012 following a succession of top-level victories, a distinction he has held on multiple occasions since. His exceptional career also includes team bronze at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, team gold at the 2009 European Championships, victories in the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final in Geneva in 2010, 2018 and 2023, and three FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final titles in 2015, 2016 and 2019. Guerdat has also triumphed in the Rolex Grand Prix at the CHI Geneva on three occasions, in 2006, 2013 and 2015.
In 2018, he added further accolades by winning the Rolex Grand Prix at the CHI Royal Windsor Horse Show and claiming individual bronze at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Tryon, North Carolina. Another outstanding season followed in 2021, when he won the CPKC ‘International’, presented by Rolex, at the CSIO Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament. In 2023, he completed his European Championship record by securing individual gold, adding to his two previous team titles.
Steve Guerdat’s list of achievements continues to grow. Across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, he recorded five podium finishes in Rolex Grand Prix events, at Aachen, Dinard, Falsterbo, Spruce Meadows and Brussels. In February 2025, he underwent surgery for a recurrent herniated disc that had sidelined him 12 years earlier, forcing him to spend three months away from competition. Despite this setback, he returned to the ring and continued to perform consistently at the highest level. Prior to this period, he claimed his second individual Olympic medal — silver — completing his Olympic medal collection.
A source of inspiration both in and out of the arena, Steve Guerdat stands as a true role model for future generations. He has been a Rolex Testimonee since December 2012.
