Tom Schellekens comes from a family deeply involved in the equestrian world. The son of international rider Wil Schellekens, he grew up at the family-run Stal Schellekens stable in the Netherlands, where he developed his passion for the sport from an early age.
He first made his mark in the youth categories, with several appearances at the European Championships. In 2017, he represented the Netherlands at the Junior European Championships 2017 with Dena-Sienne, before continuing his progression in the Young Rider ranks. In 2019, he notably contributed to the Netherlands' team gold medal at the Young Rider European Championships.
Partnered with the gelding Fiarabo, he achieved several important victories, including the CSI2* Grand Prix of Salzburgin 2021, followed by the Grand Prix of Lichtenvoorde. In 2022, he also won the Grand Prix of the Province of Gelderland at the Jumping de Achterhoek against a strong international field. This successful partnership helped establish him on the senior international circuit.
